More than two centuries ago, George Washington presciently declared, "If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter." This Fourth of July, I am mindful of our first President's words and grateful to all who stood with us, and on principle, and helped defend free speech in the recent landmark NRA v. Vullo First Amendment decision. Regardless of our beliefs, philosophies, or affiliations, we are all Americans. And, the basic principles that bind us together proclaim that all people are created equal and have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

As NRA members, we stand ready to defend those ideals each and every day. And, because of patriotic Americans like you willing to stand guard for America's First Freedom, we are indeed a stronger republic.
